FC Groningen are still waiting on deadline day signing David Texeira to have his residence permit approved.
The Dutch side could be without the Uruguayan striker when they take on Heerenveen on Sunday after he travelled back to his homeland to finalise the permit.
Groningen director Hans Nijland hopes the 20-year-old, who signed from Defensor Sporting, will make it back in time for the Abe Lenstra stadium clash.
He told the club's official website: "The striker's permit has been granted in principle.
"Tonight Texeira will fly to his native Uruguay and get a stamp at the embassy which will complete his residence permit in the Netherlands.
"The Immigration and Naturalisation Service have sent an email over to Uruguay to show them that everything is okay and the procedure can be completed.
"Whether all this will be settled in time for Sunday is another question. It's natural to have one race against the clock before the match."
