Dave Golding (Blackburn Rovers fan) says...

Hodgson's CV is very unimpressive if you consider it carefully - far more flops than good things. He may well be a great "communicator" and be both "articulate" and "intelligent" and "know the game" but he's ageing and past it...and for all his "intelligence" he is the same clown that spent £7m on Kevin Davies.....

I actually think that Fulham will go down this season no matter what. The tremendous job of Lawrie the fool Sanchez has put them on the only way which is down now. You have to look at the other teams in the battle of staying up and I do think that both Wigan, Bolton and Birmingham have much more quality and will prove that in the second half of the season. Compared to the job Chris Coleman was doing without any money...and Lawrie spending about 12-15 milion pounds....I mean this is really good job and I would vote him the worst appointment EVER.

Andy Ross (Manchester United fan) says...

Great appointment. I thought Al Fayed was wrong dismissing Coleman, (who should over the next 10 years become a very good manager) replacing him with the shocking Lawrie Sanchez. Sanchez bought players he knew well and knew their characters which is important. The problem was the players he bought were only going to take them to a lower half finish due to a lack of quality...but couldn't replicate the team spirit he had at N Ireland. Hodgson should get them playing as a team is a good tactician, excellent communicator, very knowledgeable about football and should steer Fulham clear of relegation. They will be in the bottom 5, but should have enough about them to survive. Hodgson should then have the money to spend on the quality that should enable Fulham to stay in the Premiership going forward.

Ryan Aisladie (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

You should give RH a chance but I think it is to late for Fulham, they will go down this year but what will be the interesting point is how they cope in the Championship and if they come straight back up. I think Mr Fayed should dig deep into his pockets and let Fulham start buying some quality players. Look what Sven has done at City !!

Nick Southwell (Blackburn Rovers fan) says...

Fulham should be over the moon with this appointment, he has managed all over the world with huge success the majority of the time. Let us not also forget when Sven was appointed manager of England Roy was also a serious contender. If Fulham fans have any sense they will get behind him and i have no doubt get out of trouble...

Elaine (fluts) Boisclair (Fulham fan) says...

Having expected someone more high profile I will admit to being disppointed at first. However, having read all I can about RH it would seem we have got a good man, although he certainly has a big job to do. I pray he can get it right and wish him every success. COME ON U WHITES

Patrick Doolan (Blackburn Rovers fan) says...

A surprising appointment i think. But as a Blackburn fan knowing of his time at Rovers. I thought he was a good manager, he just had a split dressing room, a certain Mr. Sherwood didnt like him and caused uprest. As long as he keeps all his players in the dressing room working with him, rather than against him i think he could keep you up! Good luck

Ray Peters (Arsenal fan) says...

Hodgson is a risk.. he could crack the code and keep them up, or bust the balloon and go DOWN. I think DOWN!! But Fulham must stick with hime for next season.

Adam Armitage (Fulham fan) says...

OK... I am slightly suprised by the appointment but at least there is a chance that Fulham may play more attractive football now... Why did the club not try and bring back Coleman, who the fans adore, and was dismissed in haste?

tim Warren (Fulham fan) says...

As that bloke in Dad's Army used to say ..'We're all doomed !' However , Hodgson has as much chance as anyone of avoiding relegation we don't necessarily need someone high profile and charismatic just for the sake of it . Whilst being grateful for the 'Pharoah's' investment in FFC , in retrospect much of it has been horribly superficial and badly thought out , so much money wasted too on unworthy players , it has been a quick fix without much consideration for the long term . Let's get behind the team whilst also wishing the new manager well .

Roy Davies (Fulham fan) says...

Come on now Fulham fans don't be stupid by saying he's not good. Support is the key.

Andrew Butler (Fulham fan) says...

I agree with the majority, Sanchez was a bad appointment. As for this chap, lets give him a chance although having followed this team since 1970 I still think the sacking of CC was an error in judgement on the part of the board. Something has got to change, perhaps this is it.

Fraser Ormerod (Blackburn Rovers fan) says...

Roy Hodgson was an unknown to english football after managing inter and i think , the swiss national side, he came to the rovers after sven goran went back on his word to manage us. he started full of promise , but it became all too obvious that he had other things on his mind, ie a top four or national team. he was on sky every other game pontificating about other teams tactics etc and how it should be done to improve things, it didn t take long for him to take his eye from his REAL responsibilities which was in his 2 nd year in charge halting a rapid decline. i think sherwood had too much to do in the dressing room because Hodgson was never there and was lining his nest for his next move. Pity for him it took to long as he'd neglected Rovers for so long he was no longer admired. So, if he keeps his eye on the ball, decent manager! only problem is does he see Fulham , like Blackburn, as a stepping stone to BIGGER clubs! HMMMM sounds like i m talking about Benni McCarthy now, that s a different story.

Rui Pedro (Fulham fan) says...

I think that Roy is a good manager, the choice is made, lets support the manager and the players.

Jake Collinson (Sunderland fan) says...

Hmm very intresting choice, a former international manager. a one that nearly took a unknown nation to a major championships, and had more points than england, fulham should be glad they never got McClaren.

Michael Tottman (Fulham fan) says...

As a season ticket holder of many, many years I am so disapponted that we have not appointed a more dynamic and charismatic manager. I was on the fence as to whether I thought we would get relegated this season - now I am certain we will. Well done Fulham, yet another cop out appointment.....

Alan Jarvie (Rangers fan) says...

Personally I think Hodgson is a short term solution and will probably make way for John Collins in the summer. Fulham probably didn't want to get involved with any possible compensation row with Hibs.

Antoine A (Fulham fan) says...

Whoever appointed Hodgson has been seriously mistaken, the first mistake was sacking Coleman, second was appointing Sanchez, third time lucky?!?! This man has no charisma, no track record and has never been linked with any decent clubs in his life.

Tony Rogers (Derby County fan) says...

Well! One thing is for sure the Rams will not finish bottom. Fulham have given us the opportunity to springboard above them and hopefully Sunderland. It is interesting how Charlton made the same mistakes last season and Fulham have not taken a blind bit of notice. Maybe only one or two men could have saved Fulham, Mourinho or Super Martin Jol. Could not afford them took the very cheap option!

Steve Linsell (Fulham fan) says...

An experienced manager was the prime requirement in Fulham's current position. When you look at the viable alternatives, Roy Hodgson would be high on that list. Steve McClaren; Ecrisson, Venables;Martin Jol all have good CV's - but also skeletons in their cardboards. That unfortunately comes with longevity of career. Roy should have good football contacts both home and aboard. Sometimes it is not what you know , it is who you know to get the right people into your coaching or playing squad. Realistically, his first job is to stabilise Fulham and that probably means getting approximately 35 points this season. It doesn't have to be pretty, but with every player needs to work for the team and not individual glory. Roy has Bullard; McBride and Cook coming back from long terms injuries. The players are under performing and with 1 or 2 good new signings his current squad can turn from 'zero's to heroes!' He needs to ensure everyone pulls together and hit hard any negative karma should there be doubters. Results are everything, but confidence must not be underminded even in jest. Fulham fans need to get behind the team and the new manager. It is a new sunrise and perhaps belief comes in front of confidence and getting those vital points.
