Game of the Day

After a relatively quiet afternoon in the Premier League, United served up trademark late drama at White Hart Lane as Carlos Tevez pounced in the fourth minute of injury time to earn a point against Spurs.

Tottenham had taken the lead through Dimitar Berbatov midway through the first half and Spurs then went on to dominate proceedings as they looked set to record a rare victory against United.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson's side issued a stinging endorsement of their ability to defend their title, and highlighted the fact that a good side never know when they are beaten, as Tevez turned in a 94th minute Nani corner to earn a share of the spoils.

Although Arsenal reclaimed the table's top spot with their impressive 3-1 win over Manchester City, ending Sven Goran Eriksson's unbeaten record at Eastlands, Tevez's strike could prove crucial come May.

Player of the Day

A very difficult decision on a day of solid team performances. A case could be argued in favour of Tevez for his late strike, while Emannuel Adebayor's brace for Arsenal against City helped the Gunners return to the summit of the league.

However, Defoe gets the nod for marking his Portsmouth debut in fairytale style to earn Pompey a point against Chelsea at Fratton Park.

Defoe narrowly beat the transfer deadline to a move to the South Coast from Spurs, and the striker proved to be as good as his goalscoring word as he pounced to hand Pompey a 1-1 share of the spoils against Avram Grant's title contenders.

Goal of the Day

The pressure was on Arsenal as they travelled to Eastlands for Saturday's lunchtime kick-off with City. The Gunners knew they needed to set a marker for title rivals United, while they also faced the less than enviable task of ending City's unbeaten home record. And with Arsene Wenger's side already 1-0 up through Adebayor, Brazilan-born Croatian Da Silva netted a spectacular overhead kick on 26 minutes to sum up the Gunners' style this season and ease his side towards victory.

Controversy of the Day

Everton met rivals Blackburn at Ewood Park and the Toffees thought they had stolen a march in the battle for a place in Europe when Andy Johnson netted with four minutes remaining.

Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel had come charging out of his penalty area and clashed with James Vaughan.

The Everton man came out on top and fed the retreating Johnson and the striker promptly rolled into the empty net only to see his effort had been chalked off for offside. The decision left everyone in the stadium scratching their head.

Save of the Day

Although Reading eventually slumped to a miserable 2-0 defeat, the Royals goalkeeper produced an excellent penalty stop midway through the first half to deny Matt Taylor his first Bolton goal.

The midfielder joined the Trotters from Portsmouth in January and had the perfect opportunity to open his account when Marek Matejovsky brought down Gretar Steinsson in the 18-yard area.

Hahnemann, though, had other ideas as he flung himself to his left to repel Taylor's effort.

Gaffe of the Day

Luckily for the Arsenal defender his early afternoon lapse in concentration did not cost the Gunners their place at the top of the table, but the gaffe still deserves recognition.

Arsenal had only just earned a two-goal lead when Clichy was caught napping on the byline by Vedran Corluka and the Croatian picked out Gelson Fernandes to set up a nervy finish for Wenger's side.

Moment of the Day

Few would begrudge the Fulham midfielder's moment in the sun following a horrendous injury nightmare that would have ended the career of a lesser character. Bullard's good nature and sense of fun makes him one of the Premier League's endearing faces but he's no mean player either and on Sunday, against Aston Villa, he proved it with a stunning winner. Bullard's free-kick gave Scott Carson not a prayer and in the process earned Roy Hodgson his first win as Fulham boss.
