Crouch: In talks with Pompey

With the impending transfer of Peter Crouch to Portsmouth from fellow Premier League side Liverpool expected to be completed over the next few days how do you think he will fare?

Opta assess his record in the Premier League and how he and Jermain Defoe may mould as a partnership for the south-coast FA Cup winners.

Beanpole striker Crouch found Premier League opportunities hard to come by in a Liverpool shirt last season, making just 21 appearances, with only nine of these coming in the starting XI.

Crouch will hope that a move back to Portsmouth; where he managed 18 goals in 37 appearances between July 2001 and March 2002, will kick-start his career and have the Pompey fans chanting his name once again.

There is little doubt that Crouch possesses the ability to do so, as shown by his international record while partnering Portsmouth front-man Defoe.

Crouch has linked up with Defoe before - in an England shirt - and the two have managed to score 10 goals in the 322 minutes that they have played together in international football.

In the three matches where both Defoe and Crouch have started upfront for England, the two strikers have managed to score seven goals between them - albeit against Greece, Andorra and Macedonia. If these two can convert their international partnership into domestic football, then Harry Redknapp's side could well be a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League next term.
