Have your say on Alan Curbishley's exit from Upton Park

Curbishley: Hammers exit

Alan Curbishley has resigned as West Ham manager and we want to hear your views on his departure.

Curbs quits as Hammers boss

Curbishley was tipped as one of the Premier League bosses most likely to lose his job before the season started so has his decision come as a surprise?

Is it the right time for him to move on? Did he deserve to come under so much pressure? How do you feel he has been treated by the board?

Curbishley has been at Upton Park since December 2006 but do you regard his spell in charge as a success or a failure?

Who is likely to replace Curbishley at the helm? What does the future hold for the Hammers?

Whoever takes over it needs to be quick as we need to ensure maximum points are picked up in the next 5 games as we have a tricky November period. I would like to see a Manager who can resolve our defensive inabilities especially at defending corners and crosses as this is where we struggle and give away cheap goals. The question that should be asked is who approved the ridiculous weekly wages of Lucas Neil etc as we are now paying for that. Up the Hammers

History repeating itself Terry Brown sold Rio against Harry's wishes to finance ground improvements and then sold Cole, Carrick and Defoe instead of building the furure around them. This new regime are no better lining thier pockets while going on about balancing the books, charlatans one and all. Basically it my money my club I will sell and buy who I want and sod the manager, how can anyone be expected to work in those conditions. Thanks Alan and good luck to the next puppet!

Shameful display from yet another shameful West Ham Board, I had hopes for them at the start and they've let us down. Curbs may not have been everyone's favourite but he did get results, finishing tenth with half a side who were a hair's breadth from relegation the year before isn't easy. Good luck Alan.

Jack Bell (West Ham United fan) says...

I wish the board could just left Curbs to manage his way and have control I wasn't a huge Curbs fan but at least he was honest I'm sure if he'd been allowed to make his own mistakes he would be man enough to take it, but leaving like this is not right. Saving us from relegation, finishing 10th with half a team and winning 3 out of 4 is not a good reason to push the man out. Good luck Curbs

I never liked Curbs anyway but it was sad to see him go in this way, Bilic with Di canio/Dicks would be a good team to have

As a season ticket holder i personal feel that Curbs has been treated badly the board have sold top players without his consent. The next home game i will not be attending as a protest against what they have done.

What can I say he kept the club up finished a respectable 10th last year are lying 5th this year and he still has been pushed out. Good luck Curbs but I think the wrong decision to let him go for West Ham

Jono (hammers) Crouch says...

Cheers Curbs you have previously kept us in the premiership! Who's playing left back for us this season then? good to see Bellamy back! top player. (shock he got booked though!) up the irons and lets enjoy another good season, Finishing 10th will do for me, aslong as we beat Chelsea!

A dark day in West Ham history. We're the new Newcastle in the Premiership. Hope we can turn that around soon

Who does the Villa fan think he is? Keegan has got a spine and its probably just that that he's using at the moment to try and make something of the situation. Curbs and Keegan- good English Managers who really do deserve a lot better than their getting. Good Luck to them both

I wish Alan the best of luck. I'm a keen follower of West Ham and have been to matches on numerous occasions. Alan kept West Ham up and lead them to tenth last year. They've already started okay and now have this turmoil. I hope they pick a manager with the same backbone as Alan and i hope some other club takes Alan on, as he is a man with Obvious talent!!!!!!

I don't think curbs did a bad job at west ham but i dont think he would have taken us further. His signings were questionable at the least and the money he spent was wrong in my eyes Bilic is the person i would have like to see there but that doesn't look like it will happen now unfortunately but please not harry

P Kerwood (West Ham United fan) says...

A massive thank you, he saved us from relegation when the odds were stacked against us, he bought in some great players to move us to the next level and should have taken us there, the major injuries and obvious struggles with the board have really hindered us as a club and the icelandic chairman really has to look at whether he has our best interests at heart. Thanks Curbs

Dom Belina (West Ham United fan) says...

Sure the owners have the cash but even they know they woujld have not a clue what to spend it on without the manager. Managers build teams and owners can tell them their budgets. End of. Thing is with West Ham, its a feeder club. No real interest in getting to the top and staying there. Bring the kids through and flog em. You've also got to consider those slags at Sheffiled United are after serious wedge of us for getting relegated. Slags. If they win do we get their parachute payment?

Daniel Catchpole (West Ham United fan) says...

Personally I have mixed views on the subject. I love West ham and the traditions that go with it. West Ham have always played good football with the odd exception of course, and it is this reason I am glade Curbs has moved on, The style of football we played under his reine was far from exciting, sexy or entertaining even when we win (Blackburn last weekend) But on the other side I just wanted a bit of stabillity at the club, We are always in the paper for all the wrong reasons of late and this latest headline is just another string to that bow. I wish Curbs all the best for the future, and I urge the West Ham board to Choose his sucsessor very carefully. West Ham Till I die!! Bubbles Bubbles

David Schaal says...

West Ham fans should hang their heads in shame. Alot of so called fans have been getting on Curbs back about saelling players when it wasn't his decision. I am a season ticket holder and I was appalled at the comments of the so called fans before the Blackburn game saying that Curbs wasn't up to it. May I remind the faithful that finishing tenth last season with what amounted to the reserve team was nothing short of miraculous. We have now lost a manager that was part of the West Ham 'family' and a man who was considered to be the perfect successor to Alan Pardew. Where is the loyalty of the fans and the board? I am embarrassed to be a Hammers fan today. Good luck Curbs. You are a man of integrity and loyalty and you desrved better!!

As a West Ham United supporter since 1948,i have had plenty of highs and many lows following this wonderful team,i am delighted curbs has resigned i add resigned not sacked. Some of the deals he made regarding players bought since he took over have been terrible.Ferdinand had to go remember his trip to the Isle of Wight to visit his sick granny.also George McCartney put in a transfer request so he was granted his wish.As for curbs to say it was a mistake to let McCartnet go as he is the only left back at the club, did he not have enough time in his 20month reign to have a reserve left back.

Neil Thomson (Hearts fan) says...

I'm a Hearts supporter and after what we have had to put up with over the last 3 years, I'm well qualified to comment! Fans want millionaires & billionaires to pour money into their clubs. Fine, but they want a say in how their cash is spent, wouldn't you? The fact is that they don't want "managers" having a say in the club's finances. That's what happened at West Ham and at Newcastle. Ferguson & Wenger are exceptions and a doomed breed. It's the fans who need re-educating. How long do you think Hughes will last at Man. City if he starts to tell them how to spend their mega bucks?
