Woodgate: Left out by Spurs
Hargreaves: Included by Manchester United
England duo Owen Hargreaves and Jonathan Woodgate were handed contrasting news as clubs provided the Premier League with their 25-man squad lists for the first half of the season.
Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves has made a solitary substitute appearance in the last two years as he battles tendinitis. However, United confirmed that all of their senior players, apart from those out on loan, have been registered to play.
Tottenham defender Woodgate, meanwhile, was less fortunate.
Manager Harry Redknapp decided to omit the injury-plagued defender, who he recently revealed was fighting to save his career due to a groin problem. Woodgate made only three appearances last season and has not played at all since November.
All 20 clubs had to submit a squad of up to 25 players containing no more than 17 players who do not qualify as homegrown.
Homegrown players are classed as players who "irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday".
Under-21 players (born on or after January 1 1989) do not have to count towards the 25-man squads. Changes to the squads can be made in January.
Below is a club-by-club list of the players registered:
Manuel Almunia, Andrey Arshavin, Nicklas Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh, Gael Clichy, Pereka Neves Denilson, Vassiriki Abou Diaby, Johan Danon Djourou-Gbadjere, Emmanuel Eboue, Lukasz Fabianski, Cesc Fabregas, Laurent Koscielny, Vito Mannone, Samir Nasri, Tomas Rosicky, Bacary Sagna, Bilong Song, Dimitri Alexandre, Robin Van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen, Sebastien Squillaci.
As Arsenal have only 20 senior players over the age 21 they were able to make up their 'home-grown' quota through youth players.
Brad Friedel, Brad Guzan, James Collins, Carlos Cuellar, Curtis Davies, Habib Beye, Richard Dunne, Eric Lichaj, Stephen Warnock, Luke Young, Stewart Downing, Jonathan Hogg, Stephen Ireland, Isaiah Osbourne, Stiliyan Petrov, Nigel Reo-Coker, Moustapha Salifou, Steve Sidwell, Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, John Carew, Emile Heskey.

i have always been a fan of hargreaves and i always thought that he could make it in the premier league as a top class midfielder but, he has always struggled with his knees and is a risk. I''m sure Sir Alex knows what he''s doing.

It''s very poor analysis to link England''s failure to the lack of over 21 English players in the Arsenal squad. All players in the Malawi League are Malawian, yet Malawi has never qualified for the World Cup, so who is to blame there? Walcott, Gibbs, Wilshire are both English and Arsenal, and provide better hope for England than Hagreaves. English people need to wake up and move on without pointing fingers at foreigners who are making the English league attractive.

@ Tom Williams, not sure if you quite understand the rules... Macheda is in the squad as he is under 21, anyone under tha age doesn''t have to be named. If you look, United barely have 25 players to fill a squad over the age of 21.

This rule was a joke then wasnt it!? Its not changed a thing! Until the FA and the Premier League stop worrying about how clubs might react to stricter rules then the England national team will struggle to even qualify for tournements, let alone crashing out of them! Ive read in a paper today that because of the stupid criteria for the ''homegrown players'', Arsenal have been allowed to name Fabregas,Clichy,Song,Bendtner,Djourou,Mannone and Denilson as homegrown!! What a slap in the face to all England fans! This is a farce, i bet when Wenger first heard about this rule he was probably considering asking to have Arsenal entered into the French league instead, but after reading through the details of the squad criteria, i bet he breathed a massive sigh of relief! Disgrace, its absolutely ridiculus!

Why are so many people saying players like Carroll, Bale, Macheda, Rafael, Fabio should be in the squads??? There is no need to register anyone born on or after January 1 1989. Stop wasting peoples times and learn to read you freaks.

In response to Graham Timms; West Ham ARE going to be in trouble but Obinna is a class act, complete speed demon he could be a gem of a signing.. In regards to the 25 man squads WHO are chelseas homegrown players?? I can only count four? Why is ben amos included in man uniteds 24man squad when rafael and fabio are not, considering they are all 20?

Andrew Carroll and Gareth Bale ain''t on the list as both are aged 21. The rules are that you can have an unlimited number of players aged 21 or under.

Owen Hargreaves - does anyone actually know when he will be available? Seems like hes been injured since the day he signed for United! Lets hope the best is still yet to come from him , good player but not established himself in the premiership yet - in my opinion.
