Portsmouth have allowed Andy Cole to leave the club after cancelling his contract.

The former England international joined Pompey from Manchester City last summer on a two-year contract.

Injuries hampered his chances on the South Coast and he finished the season on loan at Birmingham City.

He was left out of Portsmouth's recent trip to Hong Kong, with Harry Redknapp feeling the veteran forward was looking for a way out.

Pompey and Cole have now reached a solution to rip up the final year of the ex-Manchester United hit-man's contract.

Another striker goes

"Andy wants to play regularly and we couldn't guarantee that here," Redknapp told the club's official website.

"Let's hope he can do that wherever he goes next."

Meanwhile, Portsmouth have also confirmed that Collins Mbesuma has left the club to join Bursaspor in Turkey.

The striker made just four substitute appearances for Pompey after signing from Kaizer Chiefs two years ago.
