Martin Jol is planning talks with Hossam Ghaly after the collapse of the midfielder's move to Birmingham City.

Ghaly has returned to Tottenham Hotspur after Steve Bruce pulled the plug on the transfer due to concerns about the Egyptian's attitude.

Spurs boss Jol is keen to hear what the player has to say before making a decision on whether Ghaly will be in his plans.

"He's a Tottenham player," Jol told Sky Sports News. "I haven't heard his side of the story.

"I could say it's a private matter, but of course it's not because everybody will know about it.

"I will have a talk with him tomorrow and then we'll let you know."

Ghaly was gone

Jol accepts that, following the signing of Kevin-Prince Boateng from Hertha Berlin, Ghaly may no longer have a role at White Hart Lane.

He added: "We thought he was gone, so we bought Boateng and it is not easy for him.

"Last year, No.1 was Aaron Lennon and Hossam Ghaly was my second choice on the right of midfield.

"He did unbelievably well, he maybe had more assists than any other player, but we have bought Boateng.

"It's always nice to have three or four choices on the right, but sometimes it's a bit too much, so we will have to talk to him."
