Peter Storrie insists Portsmouth will not try to unsettle Middlesbrough striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bring the Nigerian back to Fratton Park, but is concerned by the £10million transfer fee.

Redknapp also revealed that Everton and West Ham United are leading the chase for the striker, who Boro are determined to keep.

Portsmouth chief executive Storrie acknowledged the interest in Yakubu, but says the club will abide by Boro's stance on the player's future.

"I think obviously Harry has made it quite clear that Yak is someone he likes," Storrie told Sky Sports News.

Other options

"But he's a Middlesbrough player and from what we understand Middlesbrough, understandably, don't want to sell him.

"So, unless that situation changes in any way, we won't be any party to upsetting the player.

"If he's at Middlesbrough, and happy with Middlesbrough, that's fine, we've got other options.

"We are looking at a couple of other areas in terms of strikers, and other areas of the park as well.

"We are possibly looking for a couple more before the deadline."
