Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kiev are eager to strike a loan deal for Andrei Shevchenko.

Shevchenko, who started his senior career at Dynamo before moving to Milan, endured a difficult first season at Chelsea.

He has not featured for Jose Mourinho's side this term and Dynamo are interested in taking him back to Ukraine.

"I said in every interview that there was a possibility that Shevchenko wouldn't play well for Chelsea," Dynamo president Igor Surkis is quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"I've asked Shevchenko to ask his board to let him go to Dynamo on loan.

"If we qualify for the (UEFA Champions League) group stage we'll have only 24 hours to do all the paperwork."

Willing to pay

Surkis has stressed that, while he would not be able to buy Shevchenko, he would be willing to pay the striker's wages.

He said: "I'm ready to pay his salary instead of the Chelsea board but I'm not ready to reimburse 45million dollars (£22.5million) to (Chelsea owner Roman) Abramovich.

"I don't know what's going on at Chelsea but I'm ready to take Shevchenko on loan.

"He does not have a small salary but I'm ready to pay that."
