Pearson: No regrets

Scotland midfielder Stephen Pearson has no regrets about leaving Celtic for Derby despite sitting at the bottom of the Premier League.

The 24-year-old moved to Pride Park in a £750,000 move in January after struggling to hold down a regular place in the Celtic side.

Pearson, who is currently away with Scotland preparing for this weekend's Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania, believes the move to Derby has enhanced his international chances.

No regrets

"I've no regrets at leaving. It's worked out really well for me," insisted Pearson.

"When I was at Celtic the most important thing was getting away and getting regular football. I've managed to get that at Derby and anything after that is a great bonus.

"It's great to be back involved in the international set-up. The move has been good for my Scotland career but when I made the decision I couldn't really think about that.

"I had a job trying to get into the Celtic first team squad but it wasn't to be and I had to make the decision to move."

Pearson is confident Derby can turn things round after a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

Confident

"I'm still enjoying it. It's been difficult coming from the Championship but we've come a long way in a short space of time," added Pearson.

"We've still got a lot of hard work to do but I'm enjoying playing in the league and enjoying competing against the best players.

"We're working away and I'm sure the tide will turn at Derby."
