A Glazer family spokesman has dismissed claims that they are facing a 'growing debt problem'.

A report from the Manchester United Supporters Trust, due to be released on Monday, claims that the club's interest payments have increased by £28million this year.

The Trust report states that the Glazer family "continue to face an extraordinary and growing debt problem".

It also claims that increased television revenue and money from a new shirt sponsorship deal with AIG is being used to supplement debts.

Inaccurate

But the Glazers have strongly denied that United's debts are spiralling out of control.

"The story is inaccurate. Nothing has changed," the Glazer family spokesman said.

"The debts continue to be comfortably serviced by the business, which is performing better than ever.

"As always there have been substantial funds for the manager to purchase players over the summer."

The Glazers recently dispelled reports that Manchester United is for sale following claims suggesting the club had been targeted by overseas investors.
