Queiroz: Considering future

Carlos Queiroz has hinted that he could be heading for the Old Trafford exit.

The Portuguese is Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's current assistant, but he is growing frustrated at a lack of opportunities.

Queiroz is in his second spell with United, who take on Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, after previously quitting for an unsuccessful spell in charge of Real Madrid.

The 54-year-old, who has been backed to become United manager by Ferguson when the Scot eventually leaves the Red Devils, has now hinted that he is again considering life away from the Premier League champions.

Ambitions

"I need to reflect on what I want to do in the last part of my career," Queiroz told The Sun. "In December I'm going to stop and think about myself.

"My contract is perpetual and caters for various options. But I only have one life and one career. I am going to think about it and go for the route that makes me most happy.

"I read Sir Alex said that one day he would like me to be United's main coach. That is one reason I am in this project but I'm not desperate about it.

"In your personal and professional life you always have more ambitions."
