Murphy: Fulham chance
Danny Murphy believes his move to Fulham has given him the chance of a fresh start in the Premier League.
The former England international joined the Cottagers on loan from Tottenham on the final day of the transfer window after an unhappy 18-month spell at White Hart Lane.
Midfielder Murphy made just seven league starts as he found it hard to force his way into Martin Jol's plans.
But after being offered the opportunity to join Lawrie Sanchez's side, the former Charlton and Liverpool player had no hesitation in moving across London.
He said: "I've got a fresh challenge, it's a new season, I'm fit and I've been fortunate with injuries over the years so I'd like to think I'm a young 30-year-old.
"I've never had electrifying pace or athleticism if you like, I'm more of a clever player.
"I don't rely on that completely - I'm fit and I've got a lot to offer and I want to contribute in the Premier League and hopefully now I'll get that chance."
And Murphy admitted how meeting Sanchez quickly helped persuade him that his future lay at Craven Cottage.
He added: "The manager is clear in what he expects from you and knows about you.
"He was very straight in what he expected from me and where he saw me playing.
"We had a 15-minute conversation and that was good enough for me. It was a big factor."
