Lehmann: Under pressure
Germany coach Joachim Low says Jens Lehmann must win back his starting place at Arsenal if he wants to figure in the Euro 2008 finals.
The German No.1 has failed to regain his position as first-choice to Manuel Almunia at Emirates Stadium.
Lehmann, who has fully recovered from an Achilles problem, is set to start for Germany against Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.
But his international coach insists the 37-year-old must be playing regular first-team football if he wants to make his squad for Austria and Switzerland and even hinted he should consider a move away from Arsenal in the January transfer window, if he cannot oust the in-form Spaniard.
"Jens thinks that he will be playing again for Arsenal soon. He's confident about that, but if that situation does not change in due course we will have to talk," Low told The Guardian.
"What is due course? I think December. For the European Championships we need a goalkeeper with match practice."
Lehmann's position as German No.1 is coming under increasing pressure from understudy Timo Hildebrand, who has edged ahead of Santiago Canizares at Valencia.
