Martin Jol says he will not quit as Tottenham Hotspur manager in spite of continued speculation surrounding his future.

The Dutchman has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks after a disappointing start to the season which sees Spurs in the Premier League's bottom three.

Things took another disappointing turn on Monday as they lost 3-1 at Newcastle. Jol's position will come under even more scrutiny if Spurs cannot beat Getafe, Blackburn and Blackpool at home over the next seven days.

As Spurs prepare for their Uefa Cup tie with the Spaniards on Thursday, Jol told Sky Sports News he has not entertained thoughts of walking away from White Hart Lane although he admits club officials are concerned about the team's current form.

"I get on with all the directors and I get on with the chairman (Daniel Levy) but of course he is worried - even after two games he was worried," said Jol.

Problem

After a summer spending spree in which Jol brought in big money signings including Gareth Bale and Darren Bent, expectations were high that Spurs would challenge for a Champions League place this term.

"If you want to be in the top four and you're not then you've got a problem even when you are eighth or ninth," Jol continued.

"Sometimes I have to be realistic; if I could start with players like Ledley King then it would be different and then you could say 'okay you've got your strongest team'."

Jol is still confident he can turn things around if he is given the time.

"I feel as long as I try to prepare them 100 per cent and I do that then there is no issue because I feel that they are 100 per cent prepared for each game," he said.

Jol has been dealt another blow with news defender Bale is expected to be out for 10 days with a bruised foot. There were initial fears he had broken a bone during the defeat at Newcastle.
