Eriksson: Has plans

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has played down suggestions that he is ready to move for Javier Mascherano, Dimitar Berbatov or Adriano.

High-flying City are expected to make moves in the transfer market in January when the window reopens.

Eriksson and City owner Thaksin Shinawatra have admitted money is available and that they are looking at a few big names, but Eriksson played down suggestions he going to move for any of the trio linked over the weekend.

No plans

"There are no plans about any of those things," Eriksson said when asked about the Liverpool, Tottenham and Internazionale aces.

"I guess people think we have money available and it is a good guess to put us with these names but if we do sign somebody it will be a big one."

Eriksson has been closely linked with a host of big-name players from around the continent, with the likes of Afonso Alves, Tiago and Marco Bresciano all said to be very high on the Swede's list of potential New Year targets.

Thai take-away

Meanwhile, Eriksson is set to fly out to Thailand to conclude a deal for Thai full-back Suree Sukha.

The 25-year-old was one of three-players brought over on a summer trial with the assistance of chief Shinawatra.

Now Suree is set to arrive on a permanent deal, despite the fact he had his initially bid for a move turned down due to a lack of a work-permit.

"Sven will be here on the 16th," said the Thai FA's general secretary Ong-Arj Kosinkar.

"He is interested in three Thai players but he will sign Suree for sure."

Once signed, it is highly likely Suree will be loaned out by City.
