Bolton Wanderers chief executive Allan Duckworth says the club's priority is to be European regulars following the latest financial results.

The Premier League side recorded a pre-tax profit of £500,000 for the past financial year, in comparison to a profit of £2.2million in 2006.

The figure excludes player trading, while Bolton's turnover also fell by seven per cent from £54.6m to £51.1m.

According to the club, that was due to Bolton's absence from European competition last season and only staging 20 competitive first-team games at the Reebok Stadium.

They are again involved in the Uefa Cup and have reached the group stages.

However on the domestic front Bolton are in the relegation zone after only one win in 13 games and Gary Megson has replaced Sammy Lee as manager.

But Duckworth stated: "Our priority remains clear; to build Bolton into a successful Premier League club competing in Europe on a regular basis.

"This obviously means achieving success on the field, but it is also clear this can only be sustained by achieving similar success across our commercial and other business areas."
