Dimitar Berbatov has paid a glowing tribute to new Tottenham boss Juande Ramos.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from White Hart Lane both before and since Ramos' arrival, with Manchester United once again reported to be lining up a move for the Bulgarian striker.

Berbatov's agent held a meeting in London with Damien Comolli last week, with the Spurs sporting director satisfied the £10.9million from Bayern Leverkusen was not looking for a move in the January transfer window.

And the player himself has now praised Ramos.

He told gong.bg: "My first impression of him is that he's an incredible person.

"As a character, he talks to everybody on the team personally. He is a man who tries hard and he wants to help the team very much. He's the perfect one for the job."

Berbatov admitted last week his form had suffered as a result of the speculation about his future, and he is now keen to focus on playing.

He added: "I've never wished to be the centre of attention, it just happened. I just try to do my job properly."
