Robbie Keane believes it would be 'daft' to write off Tottenham's chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League this season.

Spurs have made a less than impressive start to the season and are currently languishing in 14th position in the Premier League after winning only two of their opening 13 games.

Champions League qualification was the target at White Hart Lane at the begging of this season, after two consecutive fifth placed finishes, and the lacklustre start to the campaign cost former manager Martin Jol his job.

However with new boss Juande Ramos now in charge, Keane feels Spurs are capable of climbing the table and finishing strongly.

"I would be daft to say we will get a Champions League place, but you would be just as daft to say we can't," Keane told Sport magazine.

Difficult

"It's been a difficult start but you have to put what's happened behind you, move on and concentrate on getting back up the table.

"We came into the season aiming to do as well as we could. Top four was the aim and, with the players we have and the manager we had, we thought that was realistic.

"We are struggling at the moment but we have the players and the manager to do well here. The only way is up.

"We are not stupid enough to think it will be easy to make up ground on the teams at the top.

"But it's still only November and there is a long, long way to go. We'll just work hard on turning things around and see where it takes us."
