Andy Johnson accepts that it will be difficult for him to force his way back into the Everton side.

The striker has struggled with injuries this season but came off the bench to score in the 7-1 thrashing of Sunderland last week.

But David Moyes has an almost fully-fit squad at his disposal and may be reluctant to recall Johnson to his starting line-up due to the fine form of others.

The arrival of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tim Cahill's return to fitness and the emergence of James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe have made Johnson's task all the more challenging.

But the former Crystal Palace man is happy with the competition for places and is confident he will take his next chance.

Johnson told the Daily Star: "We have got healthy competition here. We are working hard and the lads who aren't playing are geeing everyone up.

"All the forwards are scoring and it's obviously a good position for the manager to be in.

"You have just got to keep your mind right and your chance will come.

"To get the goal after the start the start to the season I had and my injury was a big relief.

"I want to be involved, as does everyone, but we have got a great squad and there is a lot of depth to it, so we have got to be patient."
