Benitez: On a roll

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez believes his side are well placed for a title tilt in the second half of the season after the Reds secured an impressive 4-0 victory over Bolton.

Goals from Sami Hyypia, Fernando Torres and a Steven Gerrard penalty set up the win before substitute Ryan Babel added a late fourth to secure the victory at Anfield.

The three points place Liverpool third in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Arsenal, but with a game in hand over their rivals.

And Benitez, who has seen Liverpool effectively ruled out of the title race by Christmas in recent campaigns, is impressed by his side's form this season.

Momentum

"The team is scoring goals and not conceding so it is clear that we are trying to keep the momentum," Benitez told Sky Sports News.

"We are in a good position. We are much better than the last two seasons in terms of the distance from the top two, or top one.

"We are in a good position and if we can keep this position maybe it will be different in the second part of the league."

Benitez also acknowledges that his team produced a highly impressive performance as they brushed Bolton aside.

Confident

"We were enjoying it a little bit because the team is playing well and scoring goals," the Spaniard added.

"We were creating chances because we were playing with a lot of confidence.

"All the supporters will be really happy, as are the players and everybody at the club."
