Internazionale president Massimo Moratti has warned Manchester City off Brazilian striker Adriano.

City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has spoken of his desire to bring the forward to Eastlands to bolster Sven Goran Eriksson's squad.

Thaksin's comments come amid mounting speculation over the future of the striker, who is currently in Brazil receiving physical and psychological treatment, where he is due to remain until January.

But Moratti has countered a possible move for Adriano by City in the January transfer window by insisting the striker is not going anywhere.

The Internazionale president stated the club's priority was to return the powerful forward back to his best and club officials will be travelling to Brazil in the next few days to monitor his progress.

Good

"I would like him back here in January, as strong and as good as he was," said Moratti.

"He will give us a good help in the decisive phase of the season."

Earlier, Thaksin spoke in glowing terms of the Brazilian striker.

"Adriano was a top player, but he lost form when his father died, and he put on weight. Now he's returning to form," he said.
