Drogba: Quick return

Chelsea boss Avram Grant has revealed that Didier Drogba could return sooner than expected after undergoing knee surgery last week.

The Ivorian ace went under the knife on Friday on the injury which has been hampering him for some time.

It was not known how long Drogba would be out for, but it was widely expected to be a month at the very least.

However, the knee has now been assessed following the operation and Grant admits he could be playing again within three weeks.

Hope

"I hope it will be as soon as possible," he told Sky Sports News.

"Firstly I want him to feel good with his knee - he wasn't 100 per cent with his knee the last time he played.

"But it looks as if it could be three weeks, something like that.

"I want him to feel well, the operation went well and we will just wait and see."

If it is three weeks, then that would mean he could feature in the derby against Fulham on New Year's Day.
