Berbatov: Ready to move on says his agent
Dimitar wants to fulfil his potential and win trophies now... Two clubs outside of England and one from the Premier League are interested in him.

Quotes of the week
Dimitar Berbatov wants to quit Tottenham if a club "which matches his ambition" makes a suitable offer says the Bulgarian star's agent.
The striker hit form and fired four goals in the 6-4 win over Reading on Saturday.
However, his agent Emil Dantchev claims the player is keen to join a team with greater trophy-winning potential than the north Londoners.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy says they are not a selling club, but Dantchev is reported to have told The Sun: "I have already spoken to the Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and told him that if a club which corresponds to Dimitar's class and ambition comes in with an offer which suits his current club in January, he would like to be allowed to go.
"I would like to stress this is not about money, this is about sporting ambition, nor has it anything to do with the new manager Juande Ramos. Dimitar is perfectly happy with Ramos and the way he is working but after Tottenham's bad start to the season it is unlikely they will have the chance to do something big this season."
Manchester United have been linked with Berbatov in the past, but Spurs have always been firm in stating he is not for sale.
Dantchev added: "Dimitar is OK at Tottenham. I would not say he is happy but his performances for the club are a testament to his commitment to the fans and his team-mates. He has never stopped trying and scoring goals to help the team.
"Fans must understand Dimitar is 27 next month and time is running out for him to play for a club which can match his ambition.
"It is a long-term plan for Spurs. Dimitar wants to fulfil his potential and win trophies now. He would definitely consider a move outside of England, that is not the issue. What matters is a club which matches his ambition and his level, and therefore there are only five or six around Europe.
"Two clubs outside of England and one from the Premier League are interested in him."
Spurs' position could not be more contrasting, with Levy insisting: "Once again for the record, we are not a selling club, rather we are building for the future.
"When we have players on long contracts we have no need to entertain offers."
Spurs have been linked with a host of signings since the appointment of Ramos as head coach.
But Levy is not anticipating radical changes in January, despite a poor defensive record, and has stressed that Spurs will only look at "essential" deals.
Levy said: "Juande, (sporting director) Damien (Comolli) and I have reviewed the squad and Juande feels that we are not looking at any major changes.
"We are all clear that the January window is the worst time to buy quality players so we shall not be doing any business that is not essential."
Ramos, Levy and Comolli have already sanctioned the move for Chris Gunter from Cardiff, while Ajax's Urby Emanuelson has been suggested as a possible target from sources in Holland.
Darren Bent was linked with a move to West Ham last week but Spurs were keen to stress that they wish to keep the £16.5million striker, who arrived in the summer from Charlton.

It's funny how everytime Berba has a decent game (not many this Season) his agent comes up with "Berba wants a move". If he wants to go, get rid of him. I want tryers on the pitch. Not moody drama queens who only seem to turn it on when the cameras are looking. Robbie Keane has continually performed at a higher level than Berba, he has sometimes not been treated well by Spurs, yet he puts in the same gutsy performance each and every week. He is worth more to Spurs than Berba will ever be. Let him go if the price is right.

Spurs took a gamble on Berba, 10.9 million is alot for a player nobody had heard of so to be honest its dissapointing to hear he wants to go. Even more frustrating is when the man himself said it was an honour to play for spurs, those words are sounding rather empty as the weeks go on. I think he should give Ramos until the end of the season to see what we can achieve. we're in with a chance of the carling cup and still in the UEFA, plus if we can repeat our form after christmas last season we could push up to the top 6 again. Then with the money Levy will undoubtedly give Ramos in the summer maybe spurs won't be such a "small" club and he'll have the trophies he and every spurs fan want.

I think Berbatov would be a fantastic strike partner for Torres, too much presssure on Torres at the moment with Kuyt and Voronin not living up to expectations and Rafa clearly not keen n the Crouch Torres partnership, time for the Yanks to show their commitment to our club and make big signings every year like the other top clubs and not just a one off!!

If any sportsman wants to be the best he has to play and beat the best, which for berba aint gona happen with bulgaria so hes gota do it in the champs league with a big club whos there year in year out, which isnt going to be spurs. so in the case you cant blame him for wanting to move on sporting terms, especially after spurs' poor start to the season. pus he owes spurs nothing because hes always scored goals, its the defence thats lets the side down. And to james murray, if you think spurs can sign a player as good and as sought after as david villa your having a laugh, he wouldnt go to spurs in a month of sundays!

Sell him as soon as the price is right. His lack of effort during most of this season is one of the reasons why we are in the bottom half of the table and why Marit Jol lost his job. His attitude has not helped the team. Let him warm the bench at Man U or anywhere, give Defoe a fair go and watch him respond! Use the money raised to buy a good centre back. Spend time training Paul Robinson on how to leave his line and catch a cross. If all of our players with all of their talents gave as much effort and commitment as Lee each game we would be right up there.

Berbatov is in the same mould and class as Cantona. He dont have to be at his best to be among the best. His touches were brilliant. He took chances and scores. Spurs defences were a disaster. MU fans... do you want Cantona back? Well here he is. Maybe exchanging Brown with him might be a good idea.

Berba is a fantastic player and I say so even as a Man United fan. I believe he will bring some extra quality to united so his signing will be most welcome.

Berbatov is a fantastic player, he has great skill and an eye for goal i would love it if he signed for united but i am not sure if he would be content with sitting on the bench every second week, but i do belive we need another striker as we have two brilliant ones in tevez and rooney but we don't have a backup as i don't belive that saha is good enough to step in and perform straight away as he needs a run of games before he hits top form, but you can understand that a player of his skill wants to play at a team that matches his ambition and win some silverware.

John Evans says...
Berbatov skilled yes, sulky yes. The best players fight and try all the time, Berbatov is an in and out of a game sulky player, good when things are going his way but doesn't try hard enough when they are not. He states he wishes to join a team that expects to win honours, these teams will not pay out the sort of money Spurs will ask, for a player that doesn't always give his all.

How surprising it is that this has gathered pace the closer the transfer window has got,Berba's agent is courting the press for this story as it fills his own pocket too!

Let Dimitar go and re-coup 25 Million to spend on a quality centre half to partner Ledley and a fully back to replace Lee. Berb has spent far too long sulking and many of us fans want to see the back of him (Another money grabing foreign player)

Billy Nicholson will be turning in his grave! Typical over hyped forward, spends 10 minutes in the premier league and thinks he's ready for a so called 'big club'. Man U going to drop Rooney or Tevez then? No I dont think so! Barca want him? Ok then will do a straight swap for Ronaldhino then! Ship him out give Bent a chance or Defoe and bring Peckhart in from the reserves. He can take his 20 pieces of silver and go elsewhere.

Nobody is talking about Liverpool. Who better to support Torres? He could be the missing link to enable Liverpool to reach their potential.

Martin Nedkoff says...
I have watched Berbatov since he was 18 years old still playing for CSKA in Bulgaria. He has given plenty of his talent and class to all of the clubs he signed to. He was also pretty loyal to Spurs when he didn't leave in the summer, declaring that he will do all he can to help Spurs reach the top 4 clubs in Premiership. Though, now he deserves to make a bigger step and join a club whose defenders don't let 2-3 goals a match...Spurs have been one of my favourite English clubs for ages, but I think that it would be wiser if they sell Berbatov, buy a few quality defenders with the money and let young Darren Bent develop his talent, replacing Berba on the striker position.

Kevin Oleary says...
This is the Sol Cambell problem emerging again. Lots of talk of ambition and trophey winning, but players want medels etc, Tottenham are not consistent enough, home or away, to get near the top four clubs. They make too many mistakes at the back and cannot concentrate for 90 minutes. If I were Berbatov I would be pulling my hair out and think I'm wasting my time, as I'm scoring goals by the hat full and the idiots at the back cannot defend a simple corner or freekick.

Mark Andrews (Manchester United fan) says...
I can fully Understand the frustration and disappointment of all fans when your star player wants out. I remember Shearer leaving Southampton! BUT you cannot blame a player for wanting to play on the biggest stage with the opportunity to win trophies at the highest level. Matt Le Tissier chose to stay at Southampton and became a hero at the club and a tremendous player BUT he would have no doubt acheived more Internationally and won a haul of medals had he joined a "bigger" club. Is that not why any of us partake in sport? to try and be the best and win! As much as we would love it to be so, very few players are actually die-hard fans of the club they play for.

Wake up spurs fans, dont waste your money anymore. Look at us (forest) we had a proud tradition, that counts for nothing these days. the only thing that matters is money. Gone are the days when romance was in football. Its about the big 4 and thats it you only become if you have a billionaire. Its rugby for me where money has not currupted the game YET. He's a thought instead of the big teams getting the best players how about a draft system and the teams that were the best last season get last choice. IT happens in the states to keep the intrest. I know liverpool dominated in the 70'/80's but at least you had some romance look at forest and ipswitch!!! wake up footbaqll before its too late and everyone cancells their skysports contracts!!!!

I can't stand players who blame a their club's underperformance for their decision to leave - as if they're somehow seperate from that failing side. Maybe if Berba had spen expended more effort chasing the odd the loose ball and less time sulking earlier this season we'd have a better chance of making Europe again. He's really let us down with this.

Michael Agunbiade (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...
Berbatov should learn to show respect to the club that bought him and gave him regular football. Afterall Manchester United had the opportunity to buy him in Germany but chose another player ahead of him. Tottenham should stand firm; by the way why is Tottenham considered a small club when they are a big club. Even Arsenal cannot fill their stadium regularly as Tottenham and in terms of finances, Tottenham are doing quite well compared to the so called big 4.

Berbatov is the best player spurs have in fact hes one of the best out there why sell him to a english club and make them better. surely spurs want to be up there with the biggest clubs in the premiership so why sell there best player to make them better. They should give him everything he wants to make him happy. He is in a different class to most players. But typical spurs spend all that money for what mid table its a joke!!!
