David Bentley is hoping his fine form will persuade new England manager Fabio Capello to give him his international break.

The Blackburn midfielder has found the net seven times this season and made his England debut against Israel in September.

But his international future was threatened when he pulled out of the England Under 21 squad for the European Championship complaining of fatigue.

Now Bentley is hoping Capello will give him the opportunity to take his fine club form onto the international stage.

The midfielder, tipped by many as David Beckham's successor as dead-ball specialist, told the Daily Star: "I don't worry myself about whether or not I get called up by England; I just want to keep performing well and keep enjoying my football and my life.

"If you are enjoying your football it should go hand in hand with playing for England.

"If the call does come, it comes, otherwise I will get my head down and keep performing," Bentley added.
