Ghaly: Not played this season

Derby County are in negotiations with Tottenham over a potential loan move for Hossam Ghaly.

The Egyptian midfielder is understood to have travelled to Pride Park on Tuesday for discussions with Rams boss Paul Jewell.

Ghaly has not featured for Spurs this season after walking out on a proposed move to Birmingham last summer.

The former Feyenoord winger has proved his desire to play for the club by withdrawing himself from Egypt's African Cup of Nations squad in order to complete the switch from White Hart Lane.

Problems

Work permit problems are believed to be stopping the deal from being pushed through at present, but Jewell is confident that he will get his man.

"Hossam is coming in this afternoon (Tuesday)," he told the club's official website.

"We're not sure about his work permit situation but all being well he will be a Derby County player."

No sales

However, whilst Derby continue with their efforts to strengthen the squad, speculation persists that Giles Barnes may be on his way out of the club in the near future despite claims by Jewell to the contrary.

"We need an injection of players to help the group we have got and I'm not particularly looking to sell anyone," he said

"The Giles Barnes situation was hyped up last season, but Giles has got to concentrate on getting in our team and playing well. He is a good player, but still a young player.

"The press always seem to pick up on one player at one club to speculate on, and in our case it seems to be Giles."
