Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp believes he has pulled off a coup with the signing of Milan Baros.

Baros completed his loan move to Fratton Park from Lyon after passing a medical.

The former Liverpool hit-man is expected to be handed his debut in Wednesday's clash with Manchester United, live on Sky Sports 2.

Redknapp is a big fan of Baros and he believes there will not be many better signings in this month's transfer window than the Czech Republic international.

Goals

"I have always liked him, always thought he was a clever runner and he can score goals at this level," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"He has played at Liverpool and Aston Villa and has gone to Lyon who are a top, top team.

"They play one up front and he is behind two fantastic strikers in terms of getting into the team.

"There won't be too many better loan signings than Milan Baros in January, he is a terrific signing."

Pompey have first option on signing Baros on a permanent basis after his loan deal and Redknapp admits if the striker does well he could make the move permanent to Fratton Park.

"We will see how we go and if Milan does what I think he can do, obviously we will want to keep him that's for sure," added Redknapp.

"It's up to him and how well he does.

"And if he does well and he likes us and we like him I am sure the deal can be done."
