Gordon: Has won over supporters

Craig Gordon has revealed that the past few weeks have seen much-needed confidence restored to the Sunderland squad.

The Black Cats' 2-0 win over Wigan on Saturday was their fourth consecutive victory at the Stadium of Light and has helped them move four points clear of the relegation zone.

Although far from out of trouble yet, Roy Keane's side are currently the form team of those battling against the drop, and with a new-found belief now flowing through the squad, goalkeeper Gordon feels that the club are finally beginning to get the results which their performances have deserved.

Concentrate

"We have belief in what we're trying to achieve and we're all working hard for each other," he told the club's official website.

"It was a tough game against Wigan, we rode our luck a little bit, but we deserved some luck. We were happy with the clean sheet and obviously happy with the win.

"The table looks a lot better but there's no point in studying it now, we've just got to concentrate on our results and we will be fine."

Vital

After suffering a personal dip in form not long after his arrival from Hearts, which saw him lose his place in the side, Gordon's displays of late have been inspired and he has finally begun to win over those supporters who were beginning to doubt him earlier in the season.

"I appreciate the fans singing my name," he said.

"They have been brilliant all season, even during the tougher times. There's no doubt they will be vital from now until the end of the season."
