Agger: Close to return

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is set to make his long-awaited return to action for the reserves on Tuesday night.

Agger has been pencilled in to face Manchester United as he continues his recovery from injury.

The Danish international has been out of action since September with a broken foot.

The classy central defender has changed his boots in a bid to try and regain full fitness and Reds boss Rafa Benitez hopes he comes through his reserve team outing unscathed.

"This is a chance for Daniel to prove his fitness because he has been out for a long time," Benitez told the club's official website.

Good news

"It is very good news for him and for us because everyone has been working very hard to find a solution, and he now has a new pair of boots which have helped.

"He has trained well, now he just needs to get minutes on the pitch."
