Foster: Red Devils return

Sir Alex Ferguson admits he faces "another dilemma" after Ben Foster completed a successful return to action for Manchester United reserves on Thursday.

The United shot-stopper has been out of action since last summer after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament, but returned on Thursday evening as the Red Devils' second XI played Middlesbrough.

Ferguson revealed his delight at the news, and is hopeful the 24-year-old can pick up some loan experience before the end of the current campaign.

"We're delighted - I hoped he would come through last night because it's a consideration for us to put him on loan for the remainder of the season to a Championship team," Ferguson told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously he can't go to a Premier League team which would be good for the boy.

Fantastic prospect

"There has been a few enquiries from the Championship for him and from a League 1 team, so we'll consider all these things at the beginning of the week."

The United boss admits he will face a selection dilemma should Foster be available at the start of the 2008/09 campaign.

"He's a fantastic prospect - it would have been another dilemma had he been available this season given the experience and performances of Edwin Van der Sar," said Ferguson.

"Next year I will have that dilemma about who is going to be my No.1 choice."
