Edman: Rocked by knee injury
Wigan left-back Erik Edman fears a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off against Blackburn on Saturday.
The Sweden international was forced off with a knee injury in the first half of Saturday's 3-1 defeat and early indications are that the 29-year-old has suffered cruciate ligament damage, which could rule him out of Euro 2008.
The injury comes as a big blow to both the player and the club, with Edman having had to wait a month to make his debut after arriving from Rennes in January already carrying an injury.
The former Tottenham full-back has since established himself in the Wigan defence, helping the Latics keep a clean sheet in each of their four matches before Saturday's trip to Ewood Park.
"Right now it hurts very much," Edman told Goteborgs-Posten.
"It's really tough, especially since I felt I had come back into shape after my last injury.
"Even if it's hard to tell before the examination, it feels like it is some problem with the cruciate ligament."
