Ronaldo: Has broken Best's record
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that there are plenty of similarities between Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United legend George Best.
Ronaldo has been in sparkling form all season and his second goal against Bolton last week took his tally for the current campaign to 33.
That broke Best's club record for goals from a midfielder in one season, but Ferguson insists it is not just Ronaldo's prolific form that reminds him of the Northern Ireland great.
The United boss believes comparisons can be made due to the way that Ronaldo strikes fear into his opponents with thrusting runs from midfield, much as Best used to.
"There are certainly similarities," Ferguson told Manchester United Radio.
"When George played as a winger I don't think he ever stayed still. He roamed from side to side - he played on the right, the left and through the middle.
"I've looked at Best's goals and a lot of Cristiano's are similar. He starts from wide positions before cutting inside.
"The boy's in tremendous form right now."
