Wenger: Wants defensive stability
Arsene Wenger wants Arsenal to return to winning ways before dreaming of a late push for the Premier League title.
The Gunners have fallen six points behind leaders Manchester United after a run of five games without a victory.
Wenger believes his side can still lift the Premier League crown, but is trying not to look beyond Saturday's match at Bolton Wanderers.
"I believe that what we want is to win our next game and then try to get a grip on it again before we dream of winning the title," said Wenger on Sky Sports News.
"We have to be realistic. Our form in recent games is not good enough to dream of the title.
"Let's first get into form where we can pretend again to win the title.
"I believe we will do it, but it is more than a long-term project. Let's give everything in our next one and win it."
The Arsenal boss is also keen to eradicate the defensive frailties which allowed Chelsea to come from behind to beat the Gunners 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.
In discussing the reasons for the recent dip in form, Wenger added: "There are a few factors that are always involved, that's why football is complicated.
"We were leading with 20 minutes to go on Sunday and we surrendered, and we don't really know why.
"I believe that recently we have scored goals a bit less fluently, but that will come back.
"We want to come back to defensive stability. What we produced defensively against Chelsea was just not us. We can do much better than that. That's where our problem was against Chelsea."
