Redknapp: Court action

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has begun a court action against police for arresting him as part of a corruption inquiry.

Redknapp has lodged an action at the Administrative Court of the High Courts of Justice in London.

The Fratton Park boss is hoping to gain a judicial review of the police's decision to issue a warrant to raid his home in Dorset and to arrest and bail him.

A spokesman for the court confirmed that an action had been received and a first hearing would be held on 2nd May, but Redknapp was not available for comment on Wednesday.

Redknapp was in the running to become the new England manager in November last year, prior to the appointment of Fabio Capello.

And Redknapp has since voiced his concerns that his arrest that month cost him the possible opportunity to take over the England hot-seat.

A total of nine people are on bail in connection with the ongoing City of London Police inquiry with the most recent being Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan and managing director Karren Brady who were arrested and questioned last week.
