Brian McBride is putting thoughts over his own future on hold until Fulham's Premier League fate is decided.

The big American has played an integral part in Fulham's renaissance of late, which has seen them escape from the jaws of the drop to have their destiny back in their own hands.

While the former USA international shows no sign of ageing in his 35th year, there are doubts over whether he will elect to continue his career in England's top flight.

McBride's existing deal at Craven Cottage expires in the summer and while it is expected he will be offered a one-year extension, there is also mooted interest back in his homeland.

For now though, McBride is concentrating all his efforts on Fulham's final day trip to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth.

Great escape

"I'm out of contract in the summer. I'm not really focusing on the future right now," McBride is quoted in The Telegraph.

"But it definitely isn't dependent on Fulham staying up.

"My wife and I talk constantly about things, but right now we need to concentrate on winning at Portsmouth.

"I'd love nothing more than to make sure that Fulham are in the Premier League again next season."
