Eriksson & Grip: Under pressure

Sven Goran Eriksson looks set to lead Manchester City on their upcoming tour of the Far East.

The Swede has been placed under mounting pressure by club owner Thaksin Shinawatra, but is now expected to remain in his post for the time being at least.

Speculation continues to suggest that the former England boss is set to depart Eastlands over the summer, despite an encouraging first season at the helm.

He has led City to a top-half finish in the Premier League but remains unsure what the future may hold.

Thailand

The club's supporters have given their backing to his cause, but a decision now looks unlikely until after City have taken in games in Thailand and Hong Kong.

The post-season tour gets under way later this week, and Eriksson's assistant Tord Grip has told the BBC that discussions with Shinawatra will be held during their time in the Far East.

"Sven has not heard any more," he said.

"He will go to Thailand on Tuesday and meet Dr Thaksin there."
