Manchester City have confirmed that Sven Goran Eriksson is set to meet owner Thaksin Shinawatra as part of a planned 'performance review of the club'.

Eriksson's future at Eastlands is in severe doubt amid reports that Thaksin was dissatisfied with the form of the side during the second half of the season.

The Swede, who recently claimed he had been approached about coaching Mexico, now looks set to hold talks with Thaksin before he embarks on the second leg of the post-season tour to Asia.

Opportunity

"I think there's probably an opportunity for him (Eriksson) to meet Dr Thaksin here in Bangkok before we go to Hong Kong," City's director of communications Paul Tyrrell said.

"But with regards to the manager's position, we are making no official comment. We've made no official comment apart from saying that there will be a review held at the end of the season.

"That meeting will be part of a performance review into the whole of the club, which the chairman called for a number of weeks ago."

But Tyrrell admitted the review may not be complete until after City return to England next Friday.

Forensic analysis

"I'd envisage that the review would take another week at least," said Tyrrell.

"We are due back in England on Friday, 23rd May so I'd imagine we'll be coming towards the end of our review around that time, maybe a little bit later than that.

"The manager asked during this time of great forensic analysis of the football club for the players not to be doing interviews and not to be answering questions from the media.

"It's not something we specifically put into place for this event, it has been happening for a number of weeks.

"The manager wants to make no comment. He's here for the football game on Saturday."
