Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez would 'love' to sign a permanent contract at Old Trafford.

Tevez is currently on a two-year loan with United and club officials are investigating the best way to reach an agreement with Kia Joorabchian, who holds the rights to the Argentina international through Media Sports Investment, and formalise a contract.

The 24-year-old has made an impressive start to life with United following a controversial move from West Ham last summer and he helped the Red Devils to retain their Premier League title.

And ahead of the UEFA Champions League final showdown with Chelsea in Moscow on Wednesday, a match which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1, Tevez has expressed a desire to secure a long-term stay at United.

Desire

"I would certainly love to extend my contract," said Tevez. "I would go and sign right now if the opportunity was there."

Tevez's United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo recently expressed a desire to play in Spain in the future to alert Real Madrid.

And Tevez has indicated that he could also be interested in an eventual move to the Primera Liga.

"La Liga is a possibility eventually but that day is a long way off," Tevez added.

World's best

"I know a lot of South Americans prefer to play in Italy or Spain when they move to Europe but I am really pleased that I came here.

"This is the best league in the world and I am among some of the best footballers in the world.

"I am not one to be making comparisons between clubs but Manchester United are right up there with anyone in the world.

"When there were problems last summer, everyone assured me it would reach a positive conclusion and I am glad it did.

"From day one, everyone has treated me well and made me feel right at home. The fans at Manchester United even shout 'Argentina'. That is why I am so happy here."
