Redknapp celebrates FA Cup success
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed four young members of his squad could be facing the sack following their FA Cup final behaviour.
The English quartet did not feature in Pompey's 1-0 win over Cardiff at Wembley in May, but Redknapp has been angered by their post-match celebrations.
Redknapp has not named the four, but the Pompey boss has hinted that the players could be facing the chop following heavy drinking in the wake of the cup final success.
"These four lads didn't play in the final, but they couldn't even put their beer down on the bus," Redknapp said in the Mail on Sunday.
"We got back for the reception and the four of them just stood there until they were invited to go home.
"They're players at my club but they might not be for much longer.
"You get these 16-year-olds who think they have cracked it and aren't prepared to work and improve and put the hours in. You don't get that with the foreign lads."

In response to Brian Jefferson, we have: David James, Glen Johnson, Jermaine Defoe, Sean Davis, Martin Cranie, David Nugent, Linvoy Primus and Jamie Ashdown All in our first team squad who are all just English players, so leave your comments to yourself about Redknapp, he is a hero. Go on Harry! Sounds like Brian's picking you as the scapegoat for England being unable to play together. Nothing to do with the players or managers or infrastructure? We've only 2 less 'homegrown' GB players than you Brian. Our 12 to your 14. Shame your 'homegrown' couldn't win anything this year.

Sacking them is not the answer we all make mistakes when we are young. They will not learn there lesson by being shown the door; if they are there more then likely become like the rest of our 16 year old youth, vandals and thugs who are aggrieved by the system!

I like Harry but he's got to give these lads a break, it¿s the end of the season and they're obviously letting off some steam and celebrating. If they act like this throughout the season however, getting sloshed and not putting the effort in training then I¿m 100% with Harry on this one, they don't deserve to make it.

I agree they should get the sack, due to the fact that they didn¿t have a real reason to celebrate. If they had featured then sure let them get a bit out of it. In response to Brian Jefferson¿s comment, we have more England internationals in our team than Villa do, and with the addition of Peter Crouch and SWP I think we'll be a lot more British than your shambles of a team you lot have.

Not a good example to set for youngsters who idolise these players. Don't sack them Harry, Offer counselling and support them.

Typical Harry, don't mentor them, sack them and make room for some more African players. It's your fault there is no home representation at the Euro's. How many home grown players have you got in the team?

Yes sack them, but before they go let Tony Adams have chat with them. If that don't work then someone had better put them in for a liver transplant. Good riddance
