Middlesbrough are reported to have made contact with Heerenveen about a possible deal for Michael Bradley.

The American midfielder is understood to have a preference for the Bundesliga, but he would readily accept a switch to the Premier League if the chance presented itself.

Now reports in Holland claim Boro have made contact and have made their intentions known.

It is claimed Boro have told Heerenveen they would pay 4million euros (£3.1million) for Bradley - who has just one-year left on his current deal.

Having dealt with the Frisian club to land Afonso Alves, Boro know their Dutch counterparts well and will be confident of striking a deal should Gareth Southgate decide to pursue their initial interest.

Boro are desperate for midfield reinforcements and will bring in at least two central midfielders this summer - but Southgate is not alone in his admiration of Bradley.

Everton have been tracking him since last year, whilst North East rivals Newcastle, Manchester United, Manchester City, Blackburn, Aston Villa and Sunderland are all thought to have scouted him.

English appeal

Bradley admitted a move to England appealed, and he told Fifa's official website: "I'd love to play in the Premier League.

"I'm aware of the rumours currently going around, and hopefully something will work out on that score.

"It would take a little bit of time to adjust, but I'm confident that I could adapt and do well."
