Lawrence: Wants new faces

Stoke midfielder Liam Lawrence believes that new faces are needed if the club are to survive in the Premier League.

Tony Pulis' men secured promotion to the top flight by finishing second in the Championship behind West Brom.

Lawrence, who scored 14 goals in Stoke's promotion charge, is backing his team-mates to step up to the challenge, but feels that additions are required to bolster the ranks.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's going to be tough, we know that, so hopefully we can sign a few quality players and do our best.

"There's two months left (in the transfer window), so I'm sure there'll be action. It's not a worry.

"There's been lots of changes around the place already. The stadium has been done and the pitch has been done.

"All we need now is a couple of new signings and I'm sure that will happen.

"The nucleus of the squad is good. We finished second in the league and did really well last year. It's just adding to it now and improving as a team."
