Little: Keen on Shorey link-up
Glen Little has urged Reading defender Nicky Shorey to follow him to Portsmouth.
Harry Redknapp snapped up Little from Reading last week and is now considering a move for Shorey.
The left-back is currently assessing his options following Reading's relegation to the Championship and he may look to secure a switch to a top-flight club.
Shorey broke into the England setup under Steve McClaren and Little feels a transfer to Portsmouth would benefit his career.
Little does not want to tell Pompey what to do in their pursuit of Shorey but he is eager to link up with his former team-mate once again.
"Nicky is my best mate so of course I am going to say good things about him. But I would love to see him sign for Portsmouth as well - and they would also be getting a very good player," Little told The News.
"He lives just round the corner from me on the outskirts of Reading and we are always going out together. We are always round each others' houses and he was my room partner at Reading.
"I know a few of the Pompey players but it would be fantastic to have my best mate in the dressing room as well down here. I'd love it.
"Reading have already got the hump with me for leaving so I am not going to try to upset people saying he should go and sign for so and so. But at the end of the day I want what's best for him and he should follow me down here.
"He wants to be in the Premier League, he's an England player and has been the best left-back in the Championship for a number of years.
"Reading won't want him to go on the cheap but it would be great if I could see more of him - so I want him to come to Portsmouth as well."
Little has backed Shorey to keep challenging for an England spot despite fierce competition for places, and believes he can bring real quality to Fratton Park.
He explained: "He offers the team so much. He's got a lovely left peg, likes to push up and get forward, defends well - he is a good all-round player.
"The England situation has been difficult for him with Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge as rivals but he's definitely good enough."
