Cech: Backing new boss

Petr Cech believes that Luiz Felipe Scolari will usher in a new era of success at Chelsea.

The Czech Republic international believes that the lingering disappointment surrounding Stamford Bridge following last season's trophyless campaign will prove to be the ideal incentive heading into the 2008/09 campaign.

Cech is adamant that Brazilian coach Scolari is the right man to bring silverware back to West London and has backed the new coach to replicate the immediate success Jose Mourinho enjoyed when he joined the club back in 2004.

"What will be the biggest motivation next season? I think that the biggest motivation will be that we lost the UEFA Champions League final and the fact that, after winning the league twice, there have been two seasons where we have finished second," Cech told tn.cz.

"To see others celebrating a title is not a moment you like to experience every year.

Expectations

"I really enjoyed the two seasons when we won the league and I believe we can win it again.

"A new coach has been appointed, with his own philosophy, and he will bring in new players and there will be changes - a new era is beginning. That will help the club to get back to the top.

"When something new begins it is a time when people can look forward with expectations.

"Of course, when a team is unchanged for a long time and works well it is good, but, on the other hand, when something new begins, it brings its own magic.

Curious

Questioned about his early impressions of Scolari, Cech is adamant that the World Cup winning coach is a man who only deals in success.

"He is a coach with a big character, he is a World Cup winner, and has been successful with every team he has been in charge of," the keeper continued.

"That means that we should expect high quality and more success in the future.

"Brazilians are born winners and are regarded as the best footballers in the world so I am curious to see how he will work."
