Luiz Felipe Scolari has refused to comment on Sir Alex Ferguson's remarks about his Chelsea side.

Manchester United manager Ferguson said earlier on Wednesday that he did not expect Chelsea to make 'outstanding progress' as they were now 'a team in their 30s'.

The Blues are expected to once again challenge United for the Premier League title but Ferguson added that he was not concerned about his rivals.

Scolari, who took charge at Stamford Bridge at the start of July following the dismissal of Avram Grant, has defended his players.

However, after watching Chelsea beat Guangzhou Pharmaceutical 4-0 in a friendly in China, he turned down his first opportunity to retaliate.

"I will not answer this question. This is not a question for me," said the former Portugal coach.

"I think I have a lot of experienced players and also some young boys in my team but I feel we have experience for the Premier League or whatever league."

Salomon Kalou, Frank Lampard, Franco Di Santo and Shaun Wright-Phillips found the target against Guangzhou and Scolari was not surprised by the display.

He said: "I think it is normal for a first game.

"The players have trained well for the last two weeks, more fitness than technical training."
