Giggs: Glittering career
With the clock ticking on his glittering career, Ryan Giggs admits he has never been happier.
The Manchester United winger collected a 10th Premier League title last season, as well as helping the Red Devils secure the UEFA Champions League crown.
At 34-years-old the Welshman accepts that he may not have too many more moments like those, and is determined to make the most of his veteran years.
"I am enjoying it more than I have ever done - as long as we win," he smiled.
"When you are younger, there is another 10 years in front of you, so maybe you don't take it in as much.
"I thought about Moscow (Champions League win over Chelsea) a lot more than I did Barcelona (victory over Bayern Munich) in 1999.
"I knew it could be the last time I played in the Champions League final. And I will go into games this season thinking it could be the last time I play in the tournament."
Giggs has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet, though, and will be hoping to be a regular feature in a Red Devils squad he believes is capable of replicating their achievements from last term.
"Last season proved how much we needed a big squad," he said.
"We were quite lucky at the end because nearly everyone was fit at the Champions League final.
"But we had injuries throughout the season which we coped with pretty well. That experience will only help us."
United failed to burst out of the blocks last season, and although they ultimately went on to take the silverware, Giggs is aware that the same mistakes cannot be repeated.
A 1-1 draw against Newcastle on the opening weekend did not bode well, but confidence remains high among the Old Trafford camp.
"Obviously the Newcastle result was disappointing," said Giggs.
"We do not want to get too far behind at the start because it could be difficult to peg teams back.
"Last season was an exception when we got two points from three games. Before that Chelsea and Arsenal got off to great starts, so we want to start winning."
