Wayne Rooney is not content with winning the Double - he now wants to make history with Manchester United.

Rooney scored 18 goals last season as United won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

The England star accepts there are big expectations of United again this term and he insists they are hungry for more silverware.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has already created one Champions League-winning side, when United won the Treble in 1999, and Rooney has revealed Ferguson's current crop is determined to establish another Old Trafford dynasty.

"Since I came to United they've always been the team everyone wants to beat, so we're all used to that," Rooney told The Sun.

Not satisfied

"Winning the double was a great achievement but we're not satisfied with that.

"It's something we all spoke about when we came back in pre-season - we want more trophies.

"We don't want to be known as a team which won the double and that was it. We want to make history.

"Hopefully in the next few weeks we will, too," he added. "I think we can do great things because we've got experienced players and young lads who can only get better.

"Hopefully we will all keep learning, keep playing well and keep winning trophies.

"In five or six years I hope people are saying what a great team we became."
