Comolli: Disappointed not to bring in striker

Tottenham director of football Damien Comolli has revealed the club missed out on signing a new striker on transfer deadline day.

Spurs sold Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United on deadline day with Fraizer Campbell moving to White Hart Lane on loan as part of the deal.

The North London club also completed the signing of Russian international Roman Pavlyuchenko and Comolli admits they came close to bringing in another unnamed striker.

Comolli claims they had agreed a deal to sign the mystery striker only for the deal to fall through because of the involvement of agents.

"I am particularly disappointed that we were unable to make one additional signing, another experienced striker," Comolli told the club's official website.

Agreed

"The deal was agreed but fell through in the final moments due to agent activity.

"It is all too often that judgments are made on how these deals are or are not concluded and the reality and the reasoning that happens is often very different and highly unpredictable
