Robinho: Good move?

Former Real Madrid and Brazil coach Wanderley Luxemburgo has questioned whether Robinho's surprise switch to Manchester City is a wise move.

It had looked like the Brazilian superstar would secure a transfer deadline-day move to Chelsea before City nipped in and struck a £32.5million deal.

City are now among the richest clubs in the world following the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group; investment that played a pivotal role in Robinho's capture.

Although City are a club moving forward, Luxemburgo doubts whether the 24-year-old will realise his dream of becoming the world's best footballer at Eastland.

Shocked

"I was quite shocked by the news," Luxemburgo said. "The media was talking about moving to Chelsea but he finally moved to Manchester City.

"If you want to become the best, you need a team with possibilities to shine and I don't think City will achieve that this season.

"I don't know if his football or his career will go back at Manchester City. It depends on the plan the club set. If they build a big team, that's fine.

"The problem is, they don't seem to be building a big team."
