Everton star Leon osman is hoping he will not need an operation on his troublesome knee injury.

Osman has been struggling with the knee problem and he has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks.

The midfielder is expected to meet the club's medical staff this week to discuss the best way to try and resolve the injury and Osman is keeping his fingers crossed he will not be forced under the knife.

"I hope I don't need an operation, as I haven't missed a game lately," Osman told the club's official website.

"But we'll have a look [on Monday] and see what happens.

"If I need surgery, so be it.

"But, if I don't, I'll carry on with the rehab work to keep my knee as strong as possible."
